What are the Plein Air painting classes about?
These classes are a simple way for all levels (from beginners to pros) to get outside and paint.
Our Plein air classes are in watercolour. Using the beautiful and picturesque landscapes of Passage East and Dunmore East, you will come away with improved art skills and a fun day outside in these stunning locations in the sunny south east.

What does an Open Air Painting day look like?
At 11am we meet (community centre in Passage and Fisherman’s hall in Dunmore East)..This will give people an opportunity to meet one another. Here I will give an introduction to outdoor painting with firstly some pratictal tips on how to get set up and picking a location to paint. I will give a suggested location myself.
Next, we will go out doors to a site I will have selected and I will give a practical demonstration on doing a brief sketch, selecting certain colours, colour mixing and where and how to begin your painting. The day will have a workshop approach where I will interact with people, if they wish. People may choose to pick a view of their own to paint. Once everyone gets started I will be available to give tips and suggestions as to how your work is going.

What Makes the open air day’s special?
As somebody who has painted out doors for many years, what makes this most enjoyable is what the subject you paint will draw out from you and how each persons work is very individual.
It is a relaxed, easy going and fun day of outdoor painting.
Also Tea, coffee and scones will be provided through out the day 🍰☕🫖

Common Questions about our Plein Air Wexford Painting days
What times are the plein air days on?
These open air watercolour events will run from 11.00 a.m. in the morning to 4.00 p.m in the afternoon. However there is flexibility if you want to finish sooner, take a break etc.
Who are these workshops best suited for?
These two watercolour painting days are for anybody who has an interest in painting and would like to meet people with a similar interest. The day will have an easy going learning experience on how to paint outdoors.
What happens if it is raining?
If the day turns out to be raining we will still meet in the Community centre, Passage East, where I will give a demonstration, and we will meet another day to go outside for a couple of hours painting.This will also apply to the out door day in the Fishermans Hall, in Dunmore East.
Is your painting days on the same time as the Wexford Plein Air Festival?
Yes, there is a lot of overlap. Officially the festival is from July 25th to August 3rd. Our 2 Plein Air days are July 19th and August 2nd. Dunmore East and Passage East are both relatively short distances from Wexford. So come and down and book your place 🙂
