Fagus sylvatica – Common beech
The common green beech is one the most magnificent trees available. It will grow into a large specimen up to 30 to 40 metres, and will thrive in acid or alkaline soils.
The common beech also makes an excellent hedge,with its rich green summer leaves turning russet in the autumn, and remaining on the plant through out the winter month.
Fagus sylvatica Purpurea – Copper Beech
The copper beech makes an outstanding specimen tree. It will also growto 30 to 40 metres in height, with its rich copper foliage giving a wonderful contrast to surrounding greenery in mid summer. The copper beech also makes an excellent hedge its strong colour being particularly striking in an urban garden.
Fern Leaf Beech
A highly ornamental tree, the Fern leaf beech, has long finely cut green leaves and dense ascending branches. It will grow to a large specimen of up to 30 metres in time.
